This is a temporary part time position for 29 hours weekly @ 32 weeks for a total of 928 hours @ $ $35.42 per hour. The Chronic Disease, Health Behaviors, and Injury Epidemiology Section (CHIE) is seeking a part-time data science consultant to create GA-BRFSS a comprehensive dashboard with the capability for annually being updated by the GA-BRFSS coordinator.This one-time data science consultant will establish a dynamic data dashboard including demographic description, chronic conditions, preventive measures, health screenings, access to health care and determinants of health. • Knowledge in epidemiological methods including research design, data analysis, and interpretation/communication. • Skilled in creating epidemiologic indicators, such as prevalence, rates, moving averages, rolling incidence, and population-adjusted metrics. • Knowledge of spatial and demographic analysis for identifying geographic disparities and vulnerable populations.• Familiarity with CDC BRFSS, ACS, and Social Vulnerability (SVI) datasets. • Knowledge of data visualization best practice. • Experience transforming public health data into interactive dashboards and maps for public or internal audiences;• Experience collaborating with variety of stakeholders• Proficient in managing, and analyzing large datasets using:• SAS, SAS Callable SUDAAN and Data step logic• R such as via tidyverse, ggplot2• Python: Numpy, Pandas, ArcPy• Excel Power Query• Creates and automates routine data loading, preprocessing, and reporting pipelines• Converts and exports datasets for use in Tableau/ESRI environments (CSV, GeoJSON, feature classes, shapefiles)• Data Visualization and Dashboard Creation:• TableauSuccessful applicants will have a master’s degree in any public health field from an accredited university and at least 3 years’ experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.Preferred Qualification• 1 year experience working with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc…)• Team player – ability to work well with people with different background and skill set. • Possess people skill to collaborate and engage with several partners across the state.
