As a Theater Arts Teacher, you will be an integral part of our faculty, working collaboratively with colleagues to inspire and educate our students. Key Responsibilities As a Theater Arts Teacher at Arlington High School, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Teaching a range of courses, including Introduction to Drama, Theater Production, and Actors Studio Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that foster ensemble building, foundational performance skills, and advanced acting techniques Directing and producing full-length plays, one-act plays, and 10-minute play festivals, including rehearsals and performances Mentoring students in scenery, costumes, lighting, sound, and stage management Collaborating with colleagues to integrate theater arts into the broader curriculum and school community Participating in after-school rehearsals and evening performances, as required Essential Qualifications To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: A strong background in theater arts, with a degree in a relevant field (e.g., theater, drama, performance studies) New York State certification in Theater or a related field (or eligibility for certification) Proven experience in teaching theater arts, preferably at the high school level Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Advanced degree in theater arts or a related field Experience with play production, including directing, stage management, and technical aspects Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital tools for teaching and learning Knowledge of assessment and evaluation strategies for theater arts education Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Creative and innovative thinking , with the ability to develop engaging lesson plans and productions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills , with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents Organizational and time management skills , with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines Technical skills , including familiarity with lighting, sound, and stage management software Cultural competence and sensitivity , with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Theater Arts Teacher at Arlington High School, you will have access to a range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: Professional development workshops and conferences Mentorship and coaching from experienced colleagues Opportunities for collaboration and innovation with other faculty members Access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment Work Environment and Company Culture Arlington Central School District is committed to creating a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity, equity, and respect.
