Job Overview The Data Science Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies, processes, and frameworks to integrate and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. This role will involve managing daily operational activities, directing teams assigned to projects, and ensuring that resources are allocated accurately according to strategic plans. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data science, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Key Responsibilities Develops and executes strategies, processes, and frameworks to integrate and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. Manages daily operational activities, directs teams assigned to projects, and ensures that resources are allocated accurately according to strategic plans. Creates programming programs, algorithms, dashboards, data tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate, and evaluate datasets. Stays up-to-date with new scientific techniques and technologies, and applies them to drive business growth. Collaborates with functional specialty units to drive business solutions and direction. Establishes credibility with partners while managing expectations, and ensures regular, consistent, and effective communications with colleagues and partners. May develop budget for functional area, manages budget to plan, and may be responsible for area budget and delivering against business objectives/goals. Allocates available resources to meet operating targets, and creates and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training, and development opportunities and performance management processes. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. Experience with analysis and statistical software like SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, and/or others to perform analysis and interpret data. In-depth knowledge of SQL and open-source data science and statistics packages like Python, R, Spark, etc. Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external (business community, customers, and vendors) partners to develop strategies that meet office objectives within budget and timelines. At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership. Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state). Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. Experience communicating at the executive level. Experience leading cross-functional teams.
